Easily Attach Documents To Courses/Exams

 

With this release, it will be possible to attach external documents to Courses and Exams. This includes, but is not limited to, internal contact information or an organizational policy.  The following file extensions are accepted:  

  • .pdf
  • .mp3
  • .mp4
  • .jpg
  • .jpeg
  • .gif
  • .png

The following extensions cannot be displayed on-screen, so instead, the learner will be instructed to download the document(s): 

  • .docx
  • .xlsx

Course Formats Accepting of Attachments

Attachments can be added to all course types and formats within your site.  This includes, SCORM, Mentor Pro, Skillsoft, PowerPoint, Webinar Link, etc. 

New Icon in Course and Exam Libraries > Resources

From within the "Admin menu" Admin Icon 1, select "Library" Library Icon-1 . By default, you will be taken to the "Courses" portion of the library. To navigate to the "Exams" portion of the library, click the "blue and white arrow" Blue and White Arrow-1, to expand your options and then select "Exams". 

The new "Resources" icon (as seen in the image below) can be found in both the "Courses" and "Exams" screens.

Adding an Attachment to a Course/Exam

Once on the Courses or Exams page, select the Course/Exam that you want to attach a file to. The Course/Exam will be highlighted and have an arrow Highlighted Course Icon-1 icon to the left of it. Then click the "Resources" Resources Icon-1-1 icon towards the top of your screen. The pop-up widow below will appear.      

As shown in the image below, click the white plus sign. This will expand the pop-up window revealing additional options.

Next, select the "Upload resource..." button.                                                                                                                                                                

Uploading a Resource - Part 1                                                                                                                                                          Once the "Upload resource..." button is clicked, the pop-up window will display.  Click the green upload button and either select the desired file, or drag and drop it into the box.

After attaching the file, you will be prompted to edit the name of that file.  By default, the name of the external document selected will be displayed. When ready, click the "Add" button to attach the file.

Existing Attached documents can always be edited, previewed or deleted.

Adding Additional Attachments

To add additional attachments to a Course/Exam, follow the same steps outlined above.        Click here to go back and review those steps.

Reordering Attachments 

When multiple attachments to a Couse/Exam exist, you can change the order in which the learner will have them presented.  Below is a short video on how to do this - please note this video does not have audio as it is meant to be a visual explanation.

Learners View

From the learners view, any Course/Exam with Resources attached to it will now show a highlighted Resources icon to the far right of where they click to launch a course.
