Step 1: Review Previous Performance Documentation
Click Employee Documents.
Click Performance History.
For a more accurate and objective appraisal, review each tab to ensure the appraisal will be consistent with the employee’s performance throughout the entire period.
Step 2: Set New Goals (If Applicable)
Click Employee Goal Tools.
Click the appropriate tab, Current or Future Goals.
Click Add Goal.
Populate Goal Details.
Click Language Check to review your text.
Click Save.
Repeat until all Goals have been entered.
Step 3: Evaluate Core Values
If your organization does not utilize Core Values, skip to Step 4.
Click Appraisals.
Click Evaluate Core Values.
Select the first Core Value.
Review the Description. If necessary, click on the expander at the bottom center of the description to view any hidden text.
Select a score by clicking on the level descriptor, adjusting the slider bar, or typing into the box above the slider bar.
Note: Depending on your organization's settings, you may see the following additional slider bars:
Last: If the employee has been rated on the Core Value during the previous appraisal cycle, you will see a slider bar displaying that score.
Employee: If activated, you will see the self-appraisal rating the employee has entered on the current appraisal.
Add Comments.
Click Language Check to review your text.
Click Next to evaluate the remaining Core values. Ratings and comments are automatically saved when you leave the screen.
Step 4: Evaluate Competencies
Click Appraisals.
Click Evaluate Competencies.
Select the first Competency.
Review the Description. If necessary, click on the expander at the bottom center of the description to view any hidden text.
Select a score by clicking on the level descriptor, adjusting the slider bar, or typing into the box above the slider bar. If applicable, read the description of each Sub-Competency and select a rating from the dropdown.
Note: Depending on your organization's settings, you may see the following additional slider bars:
Last: If the employee has been rated on the Competency during the previous appraisal cycle, you will see a slider bar displaying that score.
Employee: If activated, you will see the self-appraisal rating the employee has entered on the current appraisal.
Click the Compare icon, located on the top right side of the Appraiser Comments box, if you would like to compare scores given with other employee scores on the same Competency.
Add Comments. For comment suggestions click the Comment Coaching icon, located on the top right side of the Primary Appraiser Comments box, and select the comments you’d like to include. Click Save.
Make any necessary edits or additions to the comment suggestions.
Click Language Check to review your text.
Click Next to evaluate the remaining Competencies. Ratings and comments are automatically saved when you leave the screen.
Step 5: Evaluate Goals
Click Appraisals.
Click Evaluate Goals.
Select the first goal.
If necessary, click on the expander at the bottom center of the Goal description to view the entire description.
Select a score by clicking on the level descriptor, adjusting the slider, or typing into the box above the slider bar.
If applicable, read the description of each Action Step and select a rating from the dropdown. Ratings on Action Steps will be averaged together to produce a score for the Goal. This score will automatically be reflected on the slider bar. You may manually edit this score if your organization's settings allow for overrides.
Add Comments. For comment suggestions click the Comment Coaching icon, located on the top right side of the Primary Appraiser Comments box, and select the comments you’d like to include. Click Save.
Make any necessary edits or additions to the comment suggestions.
If activated, you can describe progress in the Goal Progress area to the right of the Comment boxes.
Click Language Check to review your text.
Click Next to evaluate the remaining Goals. Ratings and comments are automatically saved when you leave the screen.
Step 6: Summary Comments
Click Appraisals.
Click Summary Comments.
Complete all Summary Fields.
Click Language Check to review your text.
Comments are automatically saved when you leave the screen.
Step 7: Finish Appraisal
Mark Ready for Meeting
Click Appraisals.
Click Finish Appraisals.
Click on the Ready tab.
Make sure all criteria have been evaluated.
Click Mark Ready.
Merge
Click the Merge tab.
Click Merge to combine the Appraiser and Employee feedback into one document.
To allow the employee access to their merged appraisal, click Allow Employee Access. This will only appear if access has been enabled in Company Settings.
An Appraiser may view the employee scores and comments following the Merge, if they were not previously visible.
Routing
Click the Route tab.
If a pre-determined Routing Path has been set up, the appraisal will automatically follow that Routing Path. If you are allowed to choose who the appraisal is Routed to, make those selections from the Route Setup dropdown and click Route.
The Performance Discussion
Once the appraisal has passed through your organization’s approval process, you will receive an email alert. The next step is to meet with the employee and discuss your ratings, the employee’s self-appraisal (if applicable), and their future Goals. Return to the appraisal screens and make any necessary final edits.
Complete the Appraisal
Click Appraisals.
Click Finish Appraisal.
Click the Complete tab.
Click Complete.
A warning appears reminding you that no further changes may be made. Click Complete.
Note: This step must be done to convert the pending appraisal to a read-only version that is protected from any system changes.
Once marked complete, a View tab appears displaying the completed appraisal. The completed appraisal may now also be viewed from Performance History.
Step 8: E-signing the Appraisal
Click Home.
From the To Be Signed widget, select an appraisal.
Review the appraisal one last time.
Click Sign at the bottom of the appraisal.
