Manager Training - Getting Started

Managers - Finish an Appraisal, with video

These are the final four steps to complete the appraisal.

Video: Managers - Finish an Appraisal

1. First, you will Mark Ready.  Once you’ve completed the scores and comments in each area and are 100% sure the review is done, click Mark Ready.  Once you select Mark Ready, the review is shifted into read-only mode.  If you need to edit the review after you click Ready, ask your HR team to make the review editable again.

2. Next, click Merge.  This step combines your evaluation data and the data entered by the employee into one document, which includes the calculated scores.   All content entered by the employee, appraisers and multi-appraisers is now viewable.

3. If your company uses the Route function, you’ll see the Route tab next.  Not all companies have Routing turned on, so if you do not see the Route tab, you will be presented with the “Complete” button.   If Route is available, HR has set up a path for the appraisal to be routed for approval.  Common examples of routing are:

  • Manager to HR
  • Manager to Director to HR
  • Manager to HR to CEO
  • Manager to Upline 2 (the next level Manager)
This video will provide guided instructions on routing.

The Performance Pro Admins in your HR department will help you understand how routing is set up for your organization.  Here are common scenarios:

  • In most cases, you, as the appraiser, will click Route, which will automatically route the appraisal to the next person in the route path to review/approve.
  • In some cases, you will be presented with a dropdown menu to route the appraisal down a specific path or to a specific individual to which your Administrator will have provided you guidance on whom to route the appraisal.

4. If routing is not used or routing has been completed, you will be presented with the Complete tab. When the appraisal is final and no further edits are needed, marking Complete will convert the appraisal to a historical document.  A copy of the appraisal will then be added to the Employee Documents > Performance History page.  Please note, immediately after “Complete” is clicked, the appraisal for the next review cycle is created and immediately accessible.
