Use automated tools to help managers and employees be more efficient in keeping track of goals

Manage Alerts

Goal Alerts

When Goal Alerts are setup, the employee will receive an e-mail notification when a goal is due and each time any change is made to a goal. This helps to ensure managers and employees stay on the same page in all aspects of goal achievement.

To Activate and Setup Goal Alerts

From the main menu, click System Setup, then Manage Alerts.

Click the Goals tab.

To notify employees when goals are changed, click the Notify Employee When Current Goal is Edited checkbox.

To send e-mail reminders about upcoming goal due dates, choose recipients, employees and/or appraisers.

If applicable, click in the Apply to Concurrent Appraisals checkbox to apply the alerts to concurrent appraisals in addition to default appraisals.

Click in the Reminders box and choose when notifications will be sent.

Edit the Subject and Message box text as desired.

Click Language Check icons to review your text.

Click Save.

Note: Goal reminders will stop when the user has marked the Goal as "Complete," or the Goal has been evaluated and given a score.

Note: To disable the e-mail notifications, simply uncheck the Reminders box. This disables the alert for both appraisers and employees.

Check In Alerts

Providing informal and real-time feedback via regular check ins is of great value, especially since the performance management process is so prone to negative feedback and disconnects between managers and employees. It's much more effective to meet with employees throughout the year as it relates to goals. This provides opportunities to monitor progress, make changes, and help ensure successful goal achievement. It's also a good time to cover other topics such as their impressions about your organization's culture, what processes hold them back, their suggestions for improved customer support, or product improvements. The Check Ins feature allows appraisers to establish a future date when they will "check in" with the employee and review the status and progress of the goal.

For managers, who have so much to keep track of, setting up automatic e-mail alerts reminding them of check in dates is invaluable. Once the Check In Alert is setup, e-mail reminders will be sent based upon check in dates the manager enters on the goal screen.

To Activate and Setup Check In Alerts

From the main menu, click System Setup, then Manage Alerts.

Click on the Goals tab, then the Check In Alerts sub-tab.

To send e-mail reminders about upcoming check-in dates, choose recipients, employees and/or appraisers.

Click Save.

Note: To disable the e-mail notifications, simply uncheck the Reminders box. This disables the alert for both appraisers and employees.

Check Ins Widget

Administrative Users can also choose to add a Check Ins widget to the Home Screen to display check in dates. This is helpful for users to be able to see dates at a glance. Please search for articles relating to making widgets available for assignment and adding widgets to home screens for more information.

To Set a Check In Date

From the main menu, click Employee Documents, then Employee Goal Tools.

Select an employee.

From the Current Goals tab, click on a goal.

Enter a date in the Check In Date field.

Click Save.

To send an email or calendar invite regarding this check-in date, click the alert icon beside the calendar icon.

Reports

It's a good idea for administrators to run goal reports every few months to check that all goals are aligned with business strategies. You can also run a report to see how each individual's goals are progressing. Available goal reports are listed on the Reports/Goal screen.

Search the articles for information on running reports.
