Finishing an Appraisal as an Appraiser - Performance Pro

The final steps in the appraisal process are found in main menu under Finish Appraisal. These steps consist of:

(1) Marking the appraisal as Ready,
(2) Merge the appraiser’s version with the self-appraisal and multi-appraisals, if applicable,
(3) Route the appraisal for approvals, if applicable,
(4) Conducting the appraisal meeting with the employee, and
(5) Marking the appraisal as Complete after meeting with the employee.

Mark Ready

From the main menu, click Appraisals, then Finish Appraisal.

Select an employee.

Select which appraisal process you wish to work with from the Appraisal Process drop-down list, if visible.

Click the Ready tab.

If there are items still needing attention, they will be highlighted in the Appraisal Checklist. Click on them to finish evaluating/commenting.

When all items are ready, click the Mark Ready button.

Merge the Appraisal with the Self-Appraisal and Multi-Appraisals, if applicable

From the main menu, click Appraisals, then Finish Appraisal.

Select an employee.

Select which appraisal process you wish to work with from the Appraisal Process drop-down list, if visible.

Click the Merge tab.

Click the Merge button. Depending on your settings, you will be taken to the next step, either Route or Complete, or you will stay on the Merge tab.

After merging, the Merge tab will display a summary of the merged appraisal, listing appraiser(s) and employee ratings and the final score. If the Allow Edit After Merge feature is activated, a drop-down box will appear beside each item from which the appraiser can change their rating if desired.

To allow the employee access to their merged appraisal, from the Merge tab, click the Allow Employee Access checkbox. This option will only appear if it has been enabled in Company Settings.

If desired, click View Current Appraisal to view a copy of the full merged appraisal.

Please Note:

  • If self-appraisals are optional and the employee will be completing an appraisal then appraisers should wait to merge until the employee has marked the self-appraisal as Ready, otherwise, the employee will no longer have the ability to make changes.

  • All appraisals must be merged in order to be completed, unless the self-appraisal feature is disabled, in which case the Merge tab will not appear. However, if self-appraisals are disabled but the Shared Appraiser and/or Multi-Appraiser features are enabled, the Merge tab will appear.

  • If self-appraisal is a requirement and is set up as such in Company Settings, you will not be allowed to merge until the employee and any applicable multi-appraisers have marked the appraisal as Ready.

Route the Appraisal, if desired or required

Note:  If the Routing feature is activated, the appraisal may be routed for review by completing the routing process. If the Routing feature is required, the appraisal must be reviewed by the appropriate users before it can be completed. When an appraisal is routed, the appraiser cannot make any changes until the item is returned.

From the main menu, click Appraisals, then Finish Appraisal.

Select an employee.

Select which appraisal process you wish to work with from the Appraisal Process drop-down list, if visible.

Click the Route tab.

Click the Route button if you would like to route the appraisal. If a pre-determined Routing Path has been set up, the appraisal will automatically follow that Routing Path. If you are allowed to choose who the appraisal is routed to, make those selections from the Route Setup drop-down list and then click the Route button.

Conduct the Appraisal Meeting with the Employee

Meet with the employee to discuss the appraisal. After the meeting, return to the appraisal to make any final edits if necessary.

Mark the Appraisal as Complete (required)

From the main menu, click Appraisals, then Finish Appraisal.

Select an employee.

Select which appraisal process you wish to work with from the Appraisal Process drop-down list, if visible.

Click the Complete tab.

Click the Complete button

In the warning box that appears, click Complete

The completed appraisal is now a read-only document that can be viewed in Performance History.
