To open your story, click on the story from the App Overview screen.
The story will open on the first slide. Click the + in the bottom left corner to add additional slides, when desired.
The menu on the right side displays the different types of content you can add to a slide.
Adding Snapshots
Refer to the article: “Working with Snapshots in Stories” for information on inserting snapshots into stories.
Adding Text
To add text, such as a slide title or paragraphs of text, click the Text Objects icon from the menu on the right.
Drag and drop the “Title” option onto your slide if you need to add a title. Double-click within the text box and enter your text. Once inserted, you may click and drag the Title to adjust the placement on the slide.
Drag and drop the “paragraph” option onto your slide if you need to add a paragraph of descriptive text. Double-click within the text box and enter your content.
Formatting of text within text objects can be edited by selecting the text object and clicking the Edit icon which appears.
The edit/format menu will appear with a partial list of options. Highlight the text and all of the options will appear. Manipulate the text by selecting the desired options.
Adding Shapes
To add shapes, click the Shapes Library icon from the menu on the right.
Drag and drop the desired shape onto your slide. Once inserted, you may click and drag the shape to adjust the placement on the slide.
To choose a color for the shape, click on the shape and then click the Choose Color icon that appears below the shape. Click on your desired color and then click anywhere outside of the color selection box.
To manipulate the front/back placement of a shape, right click on the shape and choose the desired option. You can also delete the shape from this menu. Changing the front/back placement allows you to layer shapes and other types of objects.
Adding Effects
Adding effects allows you to call attention to or make certain values in your snapshots stand out. You can only use effects on bar charts, line charts, and pie charts.
To add an effect, click the Effects Library icon from the menu on the right.
Locate the effect you want to use and drag it onto the snapshot you previously inserted onto the slide. If you wish to remove the effect, right-click on the snapshot and then click Remove Effect.
If you have applied the Any value effect to a snapshot, it will allow you to select a certain data point to highlight. To do this, apply the Any Value effect from the Effects Library as described previously. It will automatically apply it to one of the data points.
To change the data point that was automatically highlighted, click the Effect Properties icon which appears at the bottom of the snapshot.
A dialog box appears with a list of data points from the chart. (Click the down arrow to display the data points.)
Click one of the data points in the list. (You can also click directly on the data points in the snapshot.) Click outside of the snapshot. The selected data point is now highlighted in the snapshot.
Adding Sheets
Activate the slide you want to insert the sheet on and click the Sheet Library option from the menu on the right.
A list of public sheets appears. Click on the sheet you want to insert into the story.
Note: When you insert a live data sheet into your story, the current selections of the app are saved with the sheet. Every time you view this sheet in your story, these selections will be applied.
Choose the alignment of the sheet on the slide. Click the trash can icon if you want to delete this sheet from the slide.
